Fishing and gold panning right on the stream, Waterdog Lakes is located 2.4 miles west on Hwy 50. Enjoy both the upper and lower lakes.
There is no sign marking this one, but it's easy to follow and a great spot for fishing. Located 2 miles West of our lodge, park at the sign that says "Runaway truck ram 1 1/4 miles" then cross the highway to the trail back towards Garfield. Just up from the pull over, you will see the Madonna Mine and a fallen tree that marks the path.
Trail head across from the Lodge and next to Monarch Tours; follow the 4-wheel drive road (Middle Fork) up for about 1.5 miles until you see the Boss Lake trail head sign on the left. From there, go down the hill in the meadow and follow the trail across the bride for about 1 mile until you approach the back, north side of the lake. This is part of the Continental Divide Trail.
Continue around Boss Lake and stay to the left on the trail up next to the lake. There will be a sign directing you to Hunt Lake, about 1.5 miles. This is also a part of the Continental Divide Trail.
From the Lodge, drive 2.5 miles east on Hwy 50 to CR 225, and turn right onto CR 225 and follow the dirt road to the trail head. This is part of the Colorado Trail.
From the lodge, drive 5.1 miles east to CR 220, exit on the right and drive 2.9 miles (staying to the right of the fork in the road) to CR 221. tRU
